40 Burning Hot

40 Burning Hot surprised us. On the surface it looks like a simple tap-and-match arcade title, but once you settle into the rhythm there's a real sense of flow to it. Sessions are short, the animations are crisp, and the whole thing runs smoothly even on an older phone one of us still refuses to replace.

Controls are the highlight. Everything happens with light taps and swipes, and the game never asks you to fight the touchscreen. We liked how each round starts calm and slowly heats up, pushing you to read the board faster. It's the kind of game you open for two minutes and put down twenty minutes later.
